USE OF ROBOTIC CAMERA’S IN IDENTIFYING CRIMINALS
BY SEARCHING CRIMINAL RECORD FILES.
Over the past few decades we have achieved tremendous improvements in the field of information technology. We are now moving into an advanced form of this technology-robotics that would not only provide information like the computers but also assist physically in getting work done. Several applications have emerged for robotics: in surgery for carrying out long-distance and unmanned surgical operations, in military for carrying out planned attacks and bomb disposal etc.
Robotics also would play a significant role in finding criminals. Robotic surveillance cameras can be secretly implanted at various regions in a city. The information feeds from these cameras can be directly linked to criminal database maintained at all police stations. These robotic cameras should be programmed so that they can grossly differentiate between a normal and criminal activity. During a criminal activity, pictures taken by these robotic camera’s can be compared with criminal records and a background check carried out to identify the criminal. Once identified, the system can send in distress signals to all nearby police stations so that they can reach the spot as soon as possible.
This system can also be used for other purposes such as finding the marital status of an individual. Every individual involved in marriage should register himself/herself into the police records along with their photographic image, their thumb impression and retina scan. Before marriage, every individual would be required to undertake this confirmation test to clarify their marital status. It thus helps in sorting out legal and illegal marriages.
This system can also be used to keep a track of living and deceased individuals. Personalized cameras can be installed at homes so that only the individual in-charge of the bank account can access it. This can be very helpful in tracking down criminals who can hack into and steal savings of deceased individuals.
This system would be very useful in public places such as train stations, airports and social gatherings when there is a potential threat situation. Suspected individuals can be picked up by these cameras which would inform the police and help in detaining them as a precautionary measure against any planned attacks.
